TeC Briefing - October 2010
Welcome to the latest edition of asb law’s TeC Briefing. With recent figures published by the Ministry of Justice suggesting a four fold increase in the number of claims issued to protect confidential information in 2009, it is evident that it is not just asb law’s clients that have suffered at the hands of departing employees. We reported in our last e-bulletin how the global recession has put valuable company information at greater risk than ever before as the ease with which this information can be taken proves too tempting to desperate jobseekers who believe that it will give them a competitive edge in a very difficult market.
The number of trademark infringement cases has also risen by 20 percent, patent disputes by 17 percent and intellectual property disputes as a whole by a whopping 37 percent. It is therefore clear that more and more brand owners are being forced to seek the Court’s assistance to protect their tangible assets during the economic downturn.
In this issue of our e-bulletin, we update you on:
- Data protection … how to put in place best practice
- The digital age … becoming more regulated
- Are your employees LinkedIn?
- To Compare or not to Compare? Tricky Question.
- Newsflashes on E-commerce and E-privacy
