Family office advice on large estate including planning for future generations
We frequently find ourselves working as advisers to several generations of long standing ‘family’ clients, occasionally in challenging and emotional circumstances.
A recent example has involved the administration of an estate for a long established client who had lost his wife many years previously.
Our advice on the wife’s estate included a post-death variation to protect her assets and mitigate tax and setting up discretionary trusts. We subsequently continued to administer the trusts and provide advice, including for the primary beneficiary, her daughter, and her grandchildren following the husband’s death.
When the husband died, we obtained grant of probate and conducted matters with HMRC. We advised the family on tax mitigation on the parents’ estates, the daughter’s estate and for the adult grandchildren, dealing with issues concerning cohabitation and protecting assets in future.
We continue to deal with the ongoing administration.
