Criminal Injuries Compensation Award Claim

Our client suffered a brain injury after being punched in a hotel lobby. Upon being released from hospital he suffered epilepsy, with multiple seizures every day.  Although he was deemed to have capacity to work, it was felt that he would be unable to return to his job as a Labourer due to fatigue and executive function issues.

A claim was made under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Award (CICA) scheme and he was awarded £436,500 (out of a maximum £500,000 that can be awarded under the scheme).  Our vulnerable people team worked with the client to set up a Personal Injury Trust for the settlement and provide assistance in the day-to-day management of his funds.
