What we do and how we do it are driven by you and your objectives. Our primary aim is to understand how your property requirements serve the rest of your business and help you achieve your goals. Here is a selection of just some of the projects we’ve undertaken in recent years:
- Acting for a large corporate organisations managing their property portfolios including Towergate which currently occupies 175 sites across the UK and is the tenant under more than 200 leases
- Acting for a private investment group operating £40m portfolio across the south of England, advising on the acquisition of a range of properties including single let industrial sites on long leases and multi-let offices on short leases
- Acting as principal legal adviser for Hillreed Homes, Kent’s largest independent house builder, advising on large scale site acquisition and development projects and on the sale of new build units
- Acting for various clients on strategic land acquisitions and disposals across the south east including major new neighbourhood developments in Kent, a town extension in West Sussex and a £50m residential development in East Sussex
- Advising a Kent local authority on a joint venture to re-generate a derelict area of the town centre
- Acting as Project Solicitor for Northern Racing Limited in connection with the construction of the new Premier Grandstand at Fontwell Park Racecourse, advising specifically on the building contract and ancillary appointment documentation
- Acting for a London borough on all contentious and non-contentious planning and highways related matters for some 15 years, completing over 50 Planning Agreements, 12 Planning Appeals/Inquiries, 80 Enforcements and 20 prosecution cases in an average year
- Advising the Governors of a Grammar School on the completion of a s106 Agreement securing residential development of the site and the construction of a new sports hall, and subsequently on the disposal of the residential site including a possible joint venture and a complex structure involving a stepped release of funds under a retention securing the sports hall development
- Advising a client in respect of the interpretation of a rent review clause – value £800k pa
- Advising in respect of a claim for professional negligence against a firm of surveyors for failing to serve counter-notice at rent review – value £750k
- Handling major construction disputes for local government and educational establishments in respect of disputes and professional negligence claims including:
- outstanding defect issues relating to a £14m construction project
- dispute arising out of a compromised procurement process with threatened Judicial Review
- Acting for a landlord in substantial contested dilapidations claims, securing £500k at trial for the claimant’s costs
- Defending a £250k claim by the landlord of a high-value residential development in central London over the design and construction of a glazing system
- Acting as project manager and legal adviser for a Kent-based authority in the proposed compulsory purchase of a Grade II* listed property
