Our Tax, Trusts and Probate team has established a strong reputation as one of the leaders in the South East for providing responsive, practical advice to individuals.


With a great depth of knowledge and experience we strive to provide an excellent service to all of our clients, combining outstanding technical skill with a uniquely personal and down to earth approach.


Specifically a role within our Trust and Tax Planning Team providing estate administration services and advice on Wills, LPAs and tax planning to our existing and target clients.


About the role:

The main function of this role will be to:

  • Providing general tax planning advice;
  • Preparing Wills of varying degrees of complexity
  • Drafting trust deeds, declarations of trusts, deeds of variation
  • Advising on and preparing and registering powers of attorney
  • Dealing with the administration of estates of varying complexities and the implementation of associated trust arrangements
  • Supporting business development initiatives for the team and the firm

A summary of your key roles and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Managing a busy caseload, under supervision as required, dealing with a wide range of tax and trust matters to include - lifetime tax planning (to cover Capital Gains, Inheritance and Income Tax advice); advising on existing trusts, to include drafting documents to terminate and vary trusts; the creation of new trusts; death and post death tax planning
  • Acting for and advising a wide range of private individuals but in particular those with high net worth, landed estate owners and owners of SMEs
  • Client liaison, both over the telephone and in person, taking instructions, providing progress updates and managing the financial affairs of the file
  • A keenness to participate in marketing initiatives
  • Meeting financial targets of at least 1,200 chargeable hours per annum

Do you have?

  • Been admitted as a Solicitor with the right to work in the UK and at least 2 years PQE in Private Client work in a respected regional or London practice
  • Proven experience of being commercially aware
  • Clean driving licence (essential)
  • Experience of working a case management system would also be desirable
  • Previous Business Development experience and keenness to develop these skills further
  • Solid IT skills with a good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook 
  • STEP qualification would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team not only in TTP but with internal teams across the business
  • A genuine interest in Private Client work with the desire to learn and develop your skills and expertise
  • Client focus; the ability to build and sustain relationships
  • Good numeracy skills in order to deal accurately with estate accounts
  • A good eye for detail, presentation and overall high work standards
  • Good time management skills and the ability to organise and handle a busy and varied caseload
