The asb experience
Bonita - Professional Support Lawyer
I joined asb law in early 2016 after an previous colleague recommended the firm to me and told me about an opportunity as a Professional Support Lawyer in the Property Services team. I was attracted to asb law because of the range of opportunities and the openness of the culture which sees the firm actively embrace change. The firm also thinks differently about its approach to the supply of legal services and I found that very refreshing.
When I first joined I found it easy to integrate with the wider team as I was paired with a buddy who helped me with all those ‘stupid’ questions you need to ask in the first couple of weeks (like 'where's good for lunch?'). I quickly found that my role is an opportunity I can shape for my own development and the team are very supportive about giving me the opportunity to develop the role and make suggestions. There is plenty of support and the sky is the limit.
I joined asb in 2009 as an assistant within the Facilities department but also helped with general administrative tasks for other departments within the firm.
Working in the Facilities department is a great way to get to know who everyone is and what they do throughout asb as you have to get involved and help out all members of staff. During my time as part of the Facilities team I completed an advanced apprenticeship NVQ in business administration and in 2014 moved to the Accounts department.
Most of my duties centre around purchase ledger but I also help the rest of the team when needed including assisting the Finance Director, Management and Partnership Accountant with any tasks where required. With support from asb I am currently studying an AAT (Association of Accounting Technician's) course and am hoping to be fully AAT qualified within the next few years.
Laura - CMC Coordinator
I joined asb law in November 2015 having worked in the healthcare industry for over 5 years.
I was initially attracted to the role as it suited my skills and experience, and would enable me to broaden my administrative skill set whilst offering the flexibility needed to fit around family life. Having never worked in the legal industry I was a little apprehensive at first but was made to feel extremely welcome from my first interview through to my first day. There is a real sense of team work here at asb law, everyone is approachable and supportive, and I'm proud to call myself an asb law employee - many people I talk to are aware of the firm and the great reputation we have locally.
